Lartigue 1910
Basque weaving since 1910. Table linen, espadrilles and accessories in Basque canvas woven in Bidos. Four generations.
Philosophy
The looms haven't changed since 1910. The product has - from espadrille cloth to table linen - but the craft remains.
History
1910. Calixte Lartigue sets up looms in a former tannery in Bidos, between Oloron and Mauléon - then the espadrille capital. Calixte weaves espadrille cloth.
Three generations thrive on this market. Then espadrille declines - Asian competition, changing fashion. The family reinvents: same looms, same craft, new product. Basque table linen replaces espadrille cloth.
Four generations later, Lartigue 1910 still weaves in Bidos. The company seeks geographic indication to protect authentic Basque linen.
