Persol
Italian eyewear artistry since 1917, immortalized by Steve McQueen and the Meflecto system.
Philosophy
Italian handcrafted sunglasses since 1917. Patented Meflecto system, crystal lenses, exceptional finishing. Steve McQueen's glasses became a cultural icon.
History
Founded in 1917 in Turin by Giuseppe Ratti, Persol is one of the oldest eyewear houses in the world. The name comes from the Italian 'per il sole' — for the sun. The invention of the patented Meflecto system, a flexible temple bar, revolutionized wearing comfort. Steve McQueen wore the folding PO0714 in The Thomas Crown Affair in 1968, propelling the brand to cultural icon status. Acquired by Luxottica in 1995, Persol continues to manufacture in Italy with mineral crystal lenses.
