Lamy
German writing excellence where Bauhaus design meets Heidelberg precision.
Philosophy
German writing instruments since 1930. Bauhaus-inspired design, precision engineering. Safari and 2000 series are timeless classics. Made in Heidelberg.
History
Founded in 1930 by Josef Lamy, former export manager at Parker Pen, the company C. Josef Lamy GmbH established itself in Heidelberg and acquired the Orthos pen manufacturer to begin production. As an independent family company, LAMY has remained committed to Heidelberg as its only production site since its foundation, consistently guaranteeing the highest 'Made in Germany' quality. The company revolutionized writing instrument design with its Bauhaus approach, culminating with the iconic 2000 series launched in 1966. The Safari, launched in the 1980s, democratized access to quality writing with its distinctive ergonomic design.
