History
Founded in 1939 by Pete Gerber and his father Joseph, who owned an advertising firm in Portland, Oregon. It all began when they sent a small batch of handmade cutlery sets to their clients for the holidays. These knives proved so popular that Abercrombie & Fitch took interest, pushing the Gerbers to transform their agency into a cutlery company. In 85 years, Gerber became America's largest knife and multitool manufacturer, equipping the US military and special forces. Now owned by Finnish Fiskars Group, Gerber maintains production in Portland.
